Passion with purpose

Chris Hill is a "good ole boy" in the best sense of the term. He comes from a small town in Texas where men were men and boys were Eagle Scouts. Family, friends and football were his passions. But, even back then, he demonstrated to teachers that he had an aptitude for solving problems through design.

Chris credits a professor at his alma mater, East Texas State University (now Texas A&M—Commerce), with steering him towards a career in graphic design. He feels lucky to have discovered early on what he loves to do and even luckier to get to do it every day. He has had numerous opportunities to leave Texas for one of the country's design meccas, but he likes Texas and he wants to stay close to family and friends.

Industry insiders agree that not only is Chris an excellent designer, he is also exceptionally gifted at spotting and developing young talent. Many up-and-coming young designers have benefited from Chris' tutelage in the classroom as well as the studio. Chris' talent and easygoing nature have brought the international spotlight to his door. He has clients from all over the globe that return to him again and again, project after project.

The work of the Hill studio has been featured in every major design competition in the U.S. as well as many foreign competitions and is included in the permanent collections of The Museum of Modern Art, The U.S. Library of Congress American Graphic Art Collection and the Ellis Island/Statue of Liberty Commemorative Exhibit. Chris has been profiled in Communication Arts magazine and Graphis as well as other design and business publications.

A teacher for more than 15 years, Chris founded The Creative Summit in 1985. The Creative Summit is an annual design conference intended to further the knowledge of design and feed the creative spirit. It has become a highly respected regional design conference that has featured internationally renowned speakers.

Chris has been an avid supporter of the Texas arts community as well as a generous contributor to numerous local, state and national charities. Good citizenship is something he not only believes in, but also lives every day.
